Beginning iPhone Development

July 5, 2010

I recently started doing iPhone development and thought I would share some of the resources that I’ve found to be useful so far:

Apple Development Center

http://developer.apple.com

Download the Apple development tools and sign up for an Apple Developer ID.

Stanford course iPhone Development

search “iphone application development” on iTunes

This is the complete series of video recordings covering the entire Stanford course.  It starts out basic and goes into advanced features.  The production quality is good and the instructors describe the concepts well.  Also, download all the slides and assignments for the course at http://www.stanford.edu/class/cs193p/cgi-bin/drupal/downloads-2010-winter

Apple Dev Forums

http://devforums.apple.com

Once you have your Apple ID, check here to find discussions and great info about developing on Apple platforms.

Cocoa Programming for Mac OS X (3rd Edition)

I’ve also found this book to be a helpful supplement to the video lectures.  The book is not focused on the iPhone specifically, but gets you started programming Coco very quickly.

Please share your favorite iPhone development resources in the comments.
